Wooo! Today we’re talking about humility, champs.
1 Peter 5: 6-7 AMP—Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you carefully].”
There’s so much I want to talk about today. I low-key wanted to record a video instead but I’ll try to keep it brief for Part One.
Humility defined is a modest or low view of one’s own importance. God tells us to humble ourselves before Him. The verse before this passage says God opposes the proud. Why? Why would God go against His own child?
I believe it is because it goes against the very nature of God and the example Christ left for us. Jesus, being fully God and fully man definitely had reason to boast but he didn’t! This man worked miracles, healed folks, and all— you have a degree and nice clothes. Come on, in comparison, you have no room to boast.
We try to make ourselves seem more important than we really are. We are humble servants of the Lord Jesus Christ but society pushes us to put ourselves on pedestals. Social media gives us this false sense of self-importance. Our profiles and pages literally revolve around our day to day and accomplishments. I just want us to remember to ‘cast that crown.’
Yes, you’ve worked hard, you’ve accomplished a lot, but don’t place your crown on your head just for the sake of walking around, strutting, and flaunting. Cast all your cares, everything you’ve gone through, your victories even, upon the Lord. When you take the crown off of your head and cast it at the Father’s feet you are removing yourself from the throne of your heart.
So how do we practically ‘cast our crown’ and worship God instead of our own self image and pride? Well, that’s where that step-by-step blog-like post I promised you comes in! Ha! We will talk more about that in ‘Casting your Crown, Part Two!’
